Nishijin, Kyoto. Needless to say, this is the birthplace of Nishijin-ori, a world-renowned luxury Japanese fabric, and the center of the domestic textile industry. The dyeing factory that handles SaboraMi's black dyeing is the one that local fabric merchants all say is the place to go for silk dyeing. It has such a long history that legend has it that it came from Nara with Emperor Kanmu, and there is no doubt that they have been honing their skills here since at least the Edo period.

By utilizing craftsmanship that has been cultivated over many years and using processes and materials that anticipate subsequent dyeing, they have made it possible to re-dye the dress black.

In order to re-dye the dress, two things are ordered from the dyeing factory. The first is a "farming process." When fabric is dyed, it usually changes in quality, such as shrinking. To prevent this, it is a shrinkage prevention process that stabilizes the properties of the fabric. SaboraMi dresses always go through this process while the fabric is still pure white.
The other is "product dyeing," which is re-dyed into a black dress. Because silk is a very delicate material, the general method of rotating it with dye in a pot cannot be used. It is dyed using the traditional "hanging dyeing" technique, the same as when dyeing kimono fabric.
